Bale and Ramsey, Welsh Men to Watch at the 2022 World Cup
The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is getting closer and closer. The tournament will be held from 20 November to 18 December and has attracted 32 teams from the 5 FIFA confederations.
The household names France, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, England, and the Netherlands will all be there, alongside some underdogs, including Wales.
Wales at the World Stage
Wales had only participated in one World Cup tournament in 1958 when they were bungled out in the quarter-finals by Brazil. But decades later, they are back to the World Cup, this time with a pool of talent that could upset some big teams.
Players to Watch
Bale, one of the fastest players in the game, will be the man to watch in the upcoming tournament. Even though old age is quickly catching up with him, he will give defenders a hard time with his speed, agility, stamina, heading accuracy, and free-kick speciality.
Another player to watch will be former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey. Even though his form has dipped because of injuries, he will still be an inspiration in the team’s midfield. The master of passing will undoubtedly be an invaluable addition to the Wales squad if he stays fit.
Other key players who will be instrumental in Wales’ World Cup campaign include Joe Allen, a central midfield maestro that will link defence and attack. Ethan Ampadu, the towering defender and veteran goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, will also be a boost to the team’s defence. Other players to watch include Harry Wilson, Daniel James, and Kieffer Moore.
The squad will be led by Rob Page, an experienced football manager who has also had a stint at Port Vale and Northampton Town as a coach. At the moment, he hasn’t made a final list of players who will carry the Dragons’ flag to Qatar but expect the players mentioned above to feature as long as nothing comes up before the date.
