Cathedral 73

Located in Wale’s capital, Cathedral 73 is a historical spot dedicated to hospitality, with the owners of the hotel making it a point to do things differently. With downstairs dedicated to informal lounging, you don’t expect to find any formal reception there. Sink into the posh sofas in the day time and enjoy a lounge-bar feel at night when low lighting is coming from standalone candlesticks and delicate chandeliers. One intriguing thing about Cathedral 73 is that all its Victorian features have been perfectly preserved. From bay windows to high ceilings to intricate cornices, the hotel seems to be insensitive to time changes.

The rooms are well spread across the hotel’s two floors, with some really nice views towards the Cathedral Road terraces, or better still across the courtyard. Every room boasts a king-size bed, beautifully dressed in soft Egyptian Linea cotton. A collection of throws and cushions have been made available just for maximum comfort.

While you will not find dinner menu at Cathedral 73 (they ceased offering this service), the breakfast here is something you will want to have a taste of. Whether you’re looking for all Welsh breakfast or you want to have it twisted a bit, the choice is all yours.
